If Darth Vader had a personal plane, it would be this. Heck, they should modeled his shuttle after it.

It’s so incredibly badass to walk in the door approach that first platform and see the SR-71 and Discovery laid out in front of you. The architects got that one right.

Blackbird looks more sinister.

Now imagine the YF-12 armed with 3 nuclear tipped air-to-air missiles...
They would have to fix the stupid looking nose though.

Noice. I mentioned our prior trips there — I forgot I had posted this one in early 2016:

I can’t believe my son was ever this tiny...

Nuclear tipped air to air?
This thread is starting to give me a chubby.

The AIM-47 Falcon missile was designed to be equipped with a 250 ton W42 nuclear warhead (there was also a conventional version). This would both be devastating against the sort of tight packed bomber formations used in WWII, and would of course greatly increase the chance of hit on a single bomber. With only enough space for three missiles (tighter packing of the fire control system may have allowed a fourth), they wanted to make sure every shot counted.

Had the F-12B gone into production, the nose would have received a partial chine, and the folding ventral fin would have been deleted:

Definitely an improvement.

Totally appropriate that it's sitting next to Discovery. If those two could talk...

That is both incredibly awesome and incredibly terrifying.

I always thought Amidala’s ship looked like a scrunched shiny blackbird.

Looks like he had a blast.
I wanted to take my 4 year old nephew but my brother didn’t think he’d make it through Apollo 11 without a hissy fit.

Yeah. I didn’t know the layout and had a bit of a crisis as I walked to the edge.

Yep. But nothing can look sinister with all that chrome.
Wouldn’t it be kinda tragically poetic if Vader had made his own ship into a twisted, sinister perversion of hers?
